As a therapist, I see myself as providing a safe, non-judgmental container to assist you as you explore and gather insights around challenges, relationship issues and internal conflicts. Ultimately, you are the expert on your life and will determine the pace and the progress. Together, we will unpack what is on your mind and create awareness and solutions to assist you in living an authentic life.
I specialize in counseling/psychotherapy with young adults, adults and couples dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, human sexuality and relationship issues. I have a particular passion for serving LGBTQ+ clients, and have experience working with couples, alternative lifestyles, consensual non-monogamous relationships and kink.
I also enjoy working with people around identity issues, including professional and career identity, gender and sexual identity, and identities related to stages of life (parenting, aging, retirement). For some clients this may be reconciling a conflict between religious or cultural identity with their gender or sexual identity. For other clients, it may be coming out as an artist after a career in law.
My work is shaped by several decades cultivating an in-depth understanding of human behavior and motivation. As a clinician, I have worked in community mental health clinics and a university counseling center, in addition to private practice. As a leadership development coach, I have helped non-profit managers and small business entrepreneurs assess, envision, create and achieve life and business goals, as well as coaching individuals through career and life transitions. My ongoing post-graduate training includes the clinical program with the Washington School of Psychiatry, and coursework and supervision toward sex therapy certification.
In addition to my work as a psychotherapist and coach, I previously served on the Board of Directors of SMYAL, a local LGBTQ+ youth center for six years. I also have helped hundreds of individuals and families navigate the decisions and life transitions associated with moving to a new home, and in my first career managed public advocacy and public relations campaigns within the private, government, and non-profit sectors.
